Eid al-Fitr Celebration 2025

In a truly unique setting, the Social Office of the German-Sudanese Association | Rhein-Main hosted the 2025 Eid al-Fitr celebration at Casselmann’s private estate in Wiesbaden. Surrounded by a spacious garden, secluded from the public, the venue offered a sense of privacy and evoked the spirit of traditional Sudanese gatherings—reminiscent of the farms of Soba or Tuti Island in Sudan.

Traditional Sudanese “Sufra”

Special care was given to every detail to recreate the familiar atmosphere of Eid as celebrated back home. A traditional Sudanese “sufra” was prepared with large trays filled with delicious dishes, carried and served by the youth, while another group distributed cold drinks. This was followed by rounds of desserts, coffee, and tea. The active participation of Sudanese women in preparing the food stood out as a hallmark of Sudanese hospitality and communal spirit.

Children’s Program

The organizers made sure the children were not forgotten. A dedicated tent and play area were arranged, filled with colorful balloons and games. Gifts and Eidiyyah (Eid money) were also distributed, doubling their joy and reviving the cherished memories of Eid celebrations in Sudan.

Sudanese Music

Adding a special flavor to the evening, Ashraf—one of the community’s own—delighted everyone with songs and oud melodies. The music brought the audience together in cheerful applause, creating a warm family atmosphere and highlighting how traditional Sudanese music remains a living bridge to heritage, no matter the distance.
