Resin Workshop for Women

ورشة الريزن للسيدات بألمانيا

Creativity, Integration, and Income Opportunities

As part of its ongoing efforts to empower women and support their social and economic integration, the Academic Office of the German-Sudanese Association organized a hands-on workshop on resin art. The event took place on May 4, 2025, in Mainz, led by Dr. Mayada Osman, and welcomed 15 women from both the association’s membership and the wider local community.

What is Resin?

Resin is a chemical blend composed of epoxy and hardener, mixed in precise ratios to form a viscous liquid that can be colored and poured into molds. Within a few hours, it solidifies into a glossy, glass-like finish. This technique is widely used in the creation of jewelry, trays, decorative artwork, tabletops, and custom keepsakes.

Due to its simplicity and broad application potential, resin art is considered beginner-friendly. Its relatively low startup cost compared to other crafts makes it an excellent option for women looking to enter the handmade products market through home-based businesses or online stores.

Economic Empowerment Through Creativity

The workshop aimed to provide practical tools for migrant women to achieve financial independence and encouraged the acquisition of marketable skills in the German context. It reflects the association’s broader vision of promoting social integration by connecting cultural expression with real-life opportunities—creating spaces for learning, collaboration, and safe community engagement.

Workshop Content and Outcomes

All materials and equipment were provided by the Academic Office. Participants received hands-on training in every step of the resin process—from preparation and mixing to pouring, coloring, and finishing—under the expert guidance of the instructor. The women produced an impressive variety of items, including homeware, serving pieces, decorative accessories, and personalized wall art.

The workshop concluded with enthusiastic feedback from attendees, many of whom expressed a strong desire to continue exploring this medium. They appreciated the unique combination of artistic creativity and income potential, and viewed resin art as a promising path for productive engagement and social integration.
